I saw Harding Mall was being torn down. If anyone has photos of Harding Mall as it used to be I would love to add it to my scrapbook. Also, Pasquales Pizza, Whataburger, Cinema South, and anything else from that area. If you email photos to me please put Nashville photos in the subject line. Thank you. I Love your website!!!!

Comments: I remember Thanksgiving day childhood memories in Belle Meade in the early 60s where we kids would play football and tramp around in the autumn leaves colored a million shades of gold.It was usually pretty brisk w/ a slight cloud cover so that everything had an almost orange-y tint to it. The kids that had Turkey Day at home always felt priveleged they didn’t have to go to some relative’s house all trussed up in Sunday clothes. Flannel shirts and jeans were just fine. I grow ever more thankful for those days.

Comments: The name of the black band that played three nights a week in front of the Elks Clubs was “Stack and the Boys”. A scrub board and a No. 3 wash tub bass were two of the main instruments. They played for tips during the summer months and didquite well. About four or five of us Waverly Belmont area boys went up there about once a week. Generally, about 50 people listening and their man song was “Duck Butter and Salty Dog”.

Comments: I lived in West Meade on Rodney Drive from 1962-65. I was 11 when we moved. I remember Nashville as a great place for a kid to grow up. We lived next to an old rock quarry that had filled with water and was teeming with fish and snakes and muskrats. I went to H.G. Hill Elementary, and the city paid for a taxicab to chauffer me to school every day! Our neighbors were mystified by this. I vividly remember being in Miss Brownlees 5th grade class when the principal announced Kennedy had been shot. They immediately let us out of school early that day. The hills surrounding West Meade were great places to ride bicyles on the cow trails that ran through the hills. Your site is a great reminder of fond memories.
